Bathroom Journal - 3rd Edition

Here is a picture of our bathroom as it stands today. As you can see we have made some significant progress over the past few weeks. It was really a lot of work (all of which Judy did) to get the walls finished and painted. Notes for next time: hire someone to do the drywall and sanding. That is no fun.

We are getting pretty close on the tile, as well. From the picture you can see the walls of the bathtub are done, the floor is done, and the front of the bathtub shelf is done.

We received the bathtub last week! This is big news, as it took just over 4 weeks to arrive. Now that we have that, we have the template for the tub and can finish the top of the tub shelf (including tile).

We got the cabinets assembled and mounted. They look really sharp with the dark tile. I just set the countertop on top (for now) so that we could see what it is like.

We also got the pendant lights mounted above the vanities. They look really sharp! We have yet to mount the mirrors, sinks, vanity fixtures, and final resting spot for the toilet.

Won't be long now! We are getting really excited! I will write more later about the fun I had with the jackhammer.

Bathroom Journal - 2nd Edition

Here is a picture of the walls with tile. As you can see we chose a natural slate look with a little bit of light color trim. This picture still shows a little of the grouting haze, but no worries. Don't be confused by the location of the toilet. We didn't move it into the bathtub area. We just moved it over while tiling the floor in the bathroom. I added a before picture below. It really contrasts the changes. And, yes, that IS a mirror on the wall in the bathtub. I begged to put another mirror in, but Judy wouldn't have it. :)

The picture above is while standing in the bathroom, looking straight at the tub area. The picture below is while standing in the bedroom looking into the tub area from the doorway. Kudos to our tile guy. He spent a lot of time making our tile look amazing!

No turning back now...

We've been toying with the idea of remodeling our bathroom for some time now. It's the one room in our house that we haven't touched since we moved in almost 5 years ago. Before we have another kid (and for anyone who is reads into that statement, no, I'm not pregnant right now), I really wanted to have a nice bathtub to enjoy during pregnancy and birth. So, we finally bit the bullet. It didn't start out that way, though. We were just going to do a little dry wall work. Before we knew it, we had ripped out all of the tile and pulled out the bath tub. Oops..
